Clemson University Child Care Center

Client: Clemson University
Location: Clemson, SC
Size: 20,000 SF

Clemson University was the only top-twenty public University in the country without a child development center until 2018 when the University selected studioMLA Architects to team with South Carolina-based Sherman Construction and build a new world-class facility. The Center opened in 2020 and provides early care and education to families of Clemson faculty, staff, and graduate students.

The building welcomes over 100 children from infants to pre-kindergarten and works closely with the College of Agriculture, Forestry, and Life Sciences as well as other departments throughout the University. The project features a vast outdoor natural play area that is easily accessible for children, including an orchard zone and a discovery garden. It also has observation rooms, generous classrooms, and spaces for STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Art and Math) activities.
