City of Newburyport Youth Services

Working closely with the Mayor, Director of Planning and Development, and Director of Youth Services, studioMLA Architects analyzed both properties for the Newburyport Youth Services and produced a comprehensive report recommending the preferred and most cost-effective solution. Interior and exterior space were assessed for cost, layout, and usability. The design team also gathered input directly from users by conducting a community-wide survey and virtual focus groups with youth, parents, and program staff.

Proposed program elements include a community gym, multi-purpose and flexible rooms, a cafe, a teen center, and other spaces for children and families. Findings were presented at a public meeting in Fall 2020, and Further work on the project will be dependent on funding.
