Clemson University Child Care Center

Location: Clemson, SC
Size: 14,700 SF

Clemson University is one of the top-twenty public universities in the country. StudioMLA with South Carolina-based Sherman Construction was selected by Clemson to build a new world-class facility. The 14,700 SF facility opened August, 2020 and provides early care and education to families of Clemson faculty, staff and graduate students.

studioMLA’s design was selected because of its creative use of the site, dynamic architectural composition and, above all, for the way that it exceeded expectations in creating great places for children and families. The design team worked with the College of Agriculture, Forestry and Life Sciences as well as other departments throughout the University.

The building is designed to provide care for over one hundred children from infants to pre-kindergarten. The project features a vast outdoor natural play area that is easily accessible for children. It also has observation rooms, generous classrooms and spaces for STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Art and Math) activities.
